Helios Jive started as a duo of composers Rich Alick, and Paul Newman. Paul plays horns, guitar, didgeridoo and other "special treats," while Rich plays keys and synth bass, and produces. They have performed at numerous festivals and live venues throughout the USA, including Burning Man and Coachella, and are known for their energetic live performances, blending an array of electronic and acoustic instruments in a melodic, jazzy style. They scored a feature film entitled "The Bedstand", composed music for the "Lucent Dossier" Vaudeville Cirque. Their debut album, "Heliosentric", was chosen as "Best Independent Jazz Album" at the L.A. Music Awards '05. More recently, they have been joined by vocalist Fernanda Karolys.
