Helmut Erb studied with Reinhold Lösch, Heinz Burum, Adolf Scherbaum and Jean Pirot. He held trumpet positions in the following orchestras: — 1968 Stuttgarter Philharmoniker — 1969 Badische Staatskapelle, Karlsruhe — 1970–1982 Radio-Sinfonie-Orchester Frankfurt Since 1977 respected trumpet pedagogue at Musikhochschule Frankfurt/Main (1977–82), and Hochschule für Musik Würzburg (since 1982)
