Pianist Heloisa Amaral was born in Brazil. At the age of sixteen, she moved to Ger many to study with James Avery at the Staatliche Hochscule für Musik Freiburg. After graduating, she completed a Masters degree in historical performance practice with Robert Hill at the same institution, transfering later to Norway to pursue a Masters degree in piano at the Norwegian Academy of Music. In 2003, she joined the then newly founded ensemble asamisimasa, of which she was a member until 2009. She currently works as a freelance pianist, fortepianist and harpsichordist. Heloisa has worked closely with renowed composers such as Lachenmann, M.Spahlinger, N.A Huber and S. Steen- Andersen and has performed both as a soloist and as a chamber musician in festivals and venues such as Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Ultima, Cutting Edge Series, Borealis. In 2012, she was awarded a scholarship for excellency in performance from the 46th International Summer Course for Contemporary Music in Darmstadt, Germany. In addition to her career as a performer, Heloisa is active as organiser of cultural events, such as the MesterBach series and Kulturdag på Schafteløkken in Oslo. From 2010-12, she was Curator at Ny Musikk Oslo and works now as Education Project Coordinator at Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival.
