A.k.a. Hendrik David Gideonse XIX XIX (5)
Hendrik Gideonse grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio listening to his parents' old Beatles, Miles Davies, Thelonius Monk, Jimi Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane LPs. But it wasn't until early 80's when his love of punk and hardcore music ,such as the Dead Kennedys, 7Seconds and Minor Threat, inspired Hendrik to become a musician. In 1990, he moved to Boston, to attend Tufts University, where he worked for Tufts' production company and cut his teeth in live sound reinforcement and mixing. It was here that Hendrik joined his first band, Boston ska/rockers, Thumper. Over the next few years Hendrik got to feel the rush of playing live and ,along with the rest of the band, recorded a CD with Joe Cuneo. Unfortunately in 1992 tensions in the band pervaded and he left the group. Gideonse continued his studies at Tufts and became a music major, studying contrabass, harmony, voiceleading and music history. He ended up earning a BA and MA in music composition. Soon after graduation in 1997 he formed Nineteen, a band which he would lead and tour with until 2000. In 1998 Henrik founded Indecent Music label and production house, which he ran out of his house. Initially created it to support releases of his rock group, Nineteen, the label quickly expanded to releasing other artists. Hendrik soon found himself in the role of Producer and Executive Producer many times over. In 2005 he became a professor at The New England Institute of Art. Today, Henrdrik continues to write songs, produce instrumentals for hip hop performers and teach musicians and engineers how to improve themselves.
