Danish double bassist. Henrik Jensen came to London from Denmark in 1997 to study electric bass at The Musicians Institute. He later transitioned to the double bass and became a pupil at the Royal Academy of Music on the Under-Graduate Jazz course. In this time he studied with a variety of bass teachers including Jeff Clyne, Steve Watts, Jeremy Brown and Anders Jormin. Jensen’s musical versatility has seen him work in many different line-ups and with a number of leading Jazz musicians such as Martin Speake, Pete wareham, Stan Sultzman, Asaf Sirkis, Roger Beaujolai. Jensen also leads his own quartet ‘Followed By Thirteen’ which he founded in 2010. The group, which features Andre Canniere-trumpet, Esben Tjalve-piano, and Pete Ibbetson-drums is driven by Jensen’s own compositions- and the debut album Qualia is to see it's release in July 2013. Jensen has a close working relationship with saxophonist Peter Ehwald from Berlin, they recorded in 2008 the album Songs Of Trees with 'The North Trio' on 33 Jazz and in 2011 the duo album Jensen/Ehwald, recorded in the Union Chapel (London) He is also a part of 'The Mauricio Velasierra Group' (World / jazz), and has recently completed an album with the band. Henrik also plays in the trio "The Bilbo Trio' lead by Italien drummer Antonio Fusco and UK pianist Bruno Heinen. For the last six years Jensen has also been working with London vocal trio ‘The Puppini Sisters’, whom he has toured with internationally and recorded with for major label Verve, UMG. Jensen is also soon to feature on their up-coming release this year (UMG).
