Henrik Kairies (b. 1966) is a German electronic musician, theater music composer and pianist from Braunschweig, who is based in Würzburg and Berlin. He is a member of Maulwerker since 1991. Trained to play piano and trumpet in early years, since the 1980s Kairies is focused on electronic music. He also wrote music for theaters, such as 100 Fragen an Heiner Müller, 4 ½ Männer und ich (Berlin), Spiel (Leipzig), Endspiel (Stuttgart), Die Hermannschlacht and Die Hinterhältigkeit der Windmaschinen (Osnabrück), Peer Gynt, König Ödipus, Die Perser, Antigone (Mainz). He was a frequent guest in Systemkritik-Materialausgabe, the Leipzig performance series which explore the border zone between notated and improvised music. Since 2003 he has been the pianist and keyboarder with Roberto Guerra in the Italo-pop/chanson evening Strappare una Lacrima and (since 2010) recital program One Night Stand.
