b. 2 May 1898, Peckham, London, England d. 28 Oct 1989, Eastbourne, Sussex, England Musician (mainly piano and trumpet), composer and British bandleader. He played from the 1920s to the 1950s. Resident bandleader from 1922 to 1933 at the London, Midland and Scottish Railway's Midland Hotel in Manchester, England. Musical Director for the LMSR's hotel chain 1923 to 1933. First broadcast from the LMS' Gleneagles Hotel in 1924. Recorded for Columbia Records. Leader of the BBC Dance Orchestra 1932 to 1937. Probably most famous for his vocals/arrangement of The Teddy Bear's Picnic.
