b 1912, d January 1987 Maori songwriter and singer. Katene-Horvath learned her composing skills from her father and from Sir Apirana Ngata. Throughout her long life, she was associated with many musical groups. She was a foundation member of Ngati Poneke, a long time member and resident composer for the Ma Wai Hakona Club, and the Patron of the The Maori Chorale. In her later years she lived in retirement at Takapuwahia, Porirua.
