Band,
Rock
Formed in 1968, Heritage is one of the most unique & respected bands in Singapore's music scene, having headlined many blues, rock & jazz festivals internationally and even once having its own television show on Channel 5! This eclectic unit is influenced by diverse musical styles, from rock to blues to jazz to even classical, fusing them into its own brand of unique yet unmitigated rock & roll. Heritage was the first local band to release a self-produced album of 10 original compositions under the prestigious WEA label in 1979. Two more followed in 1993 & 1997, and a live album recorded at the Esplanade Recital Studio in 2012. During its colourful career, which spans almost five decades, the group has performed as far afield as Holland, performed as opening act for The Rolling Stones, and at venues such as The Esplanade, Victoria Theatre, Marina Bay Sands & Suntec City Rock Auditorium. In May 2007, Heritage was given the Artistic Excellence award by the Composers and Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS) for their dedication and perseverance to their art. This is the first time an underground rock band has been given this award. A relentlessly hardworking band, Heritage has held residencies at popular clubs such as Harry's Bar, The Crazy Elephant, The Saxophone, Woodstock, The Blue Note, Backstage & JJ Mahoney’s, and today continues its legacy of uncompromising rock & roll.
