He formed "Los Quimbeños" in 1963 with Willy Oddó, and joined "Quilapayún" in 1968 substituting Julio Carrasco. He sings and plays charango and sometimes guitar and zampoña (pan flute). He took the Chilean party and stayed with Eduardo Carrasco in 2003's split.
