A.k.a. Hervanen Romain
(1969-2006) Born on November 13, 1969 in Dover, Delaware, Romain was a video operator and promoter. In 1985, after dropping out of high school as a freshman, his mother kicked him out of her house after he couldn't keep a job. Romain joined a street gang in Delaware Bay and ended up serving six years in prison for credit card fraud and distributing synthesized cannabinoid. After serving six years, his uncle sent him to boot camp for two years as punishment, but Romain failed to pass and was kicked out of the camp, thus landing him back behind bars for only eleven months. After that, he was released and was sent to live with his grandmother, who taught him how to direct videos. In 1991, he started working as a creative assistant for F. Gary Gray until 1995, after the success of the Ice Cube film, Friday, when the two had a falling out. In 1996, he joined Relativity Records to be visual manager for video promotion, using financial opposition for Ruthless Records. That was until 1999, when Ted Field took his resume at Relativity and appointed Romain executive vice president of video promotion at Interscope Records. Romain joined Interscope shortly after the Universal Music Group merger of MCA and Interscope Geffen A&M Records. Following this, he would financially support music video opposition for artists such as U2, Beck, Eminem, Enrique Iglesias and many other artists on Interscope. On September 12, 2006, Romain was shot and killed outside of the G-Unit offices in New York, causing a ballistic stroke in his right lung. He died just one hour after being shot. He was 36 years old. His murder remains unsolved.
