Musician / Arranger / Conductor of Soundtrack and Jazz
A.k.a. William Hill-Bowen

Orchestra leader Born 1918; Died 1964 British conductor and arranger who began his career in the early 1950's as a classical pianist. He arranged much of the recorded music for George Melachrino in the late 1950's - early 1960's. Many of Hill-Bowen's records were made for Reader's Digest. Some of them were marketed anonymously under the name of the Singing Strings and occasionally The Romantic Strings, however, not all Romantic Strings recordings can be attributed to Hill-Bowen. The high-point of his career as a light orchestral conductor was reached when he made numerous recordings with the Living Strings.
