Hollenthon, hailing from Austria, was formed in 1994 by frontman Martin Schirenc (vocals, guitars, bass) who was later joined by Michael Groeger (drums) and Elena Shirenc (backing vocals). Hollenthon was originally called Vuzem from 1994 to 1999. In 1999, Vuzem signed with Napalm Records and released their debut album "Domus Mundi" under the new name, Hollenthon. In 2001, they released "With Vilest of Worms to Dwell," which is full of harmonic melodies, dark atmosphere and even opera vocals.
