Hoodlum Priest is a recording project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Derek Thompson. Formed in 1989 with Christian rapper Paul Sevier, the project was notorious for its use of samples; the debut album Heart Of Darkness was deleted almost immediately upon its release by request of Warner Bros. who had recently bought up ZTT - the album instantly became a highly desirable cult item until its free release on the official Hoodlum Priest website on 06/6/2006. Paul Sevier left the project in 1990 due to a difference in beliefs with Thompson. Following Heart Of Darkness a handful of singles and limited EPs were released, a second full-length album was not made available until 1998.
