American singer-songwriter, born 24 June 1966 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Hope's first band was called Going Home, a folk band she formed with her friend Sylvia Gomez who played the guitar. David Roback recorded some songs with Going Home. Only 7 songs are known from this collaboration. Later, Hope replaced Kendra Smith in the band Opal (2). In around 1988, Opal transformed into Mazzy Star. In 1997, Mazzy Star disbanded, but since 2010 the group is active again. In between, Hope had a project called Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions. She has also collaborated with other artists like The Jesus And Mary Chain, The Chemical Brothers, Death in Vegas, Massive Attack, Bert Jansch and many more.
