Born in Vera Cruz, Mexico but spent his early years in New Orleans. Jazz pianist, arranger, and composer, early member of Woody Herman And His Orchestra and can be heard on recordings made up to September 1936, when he was replaced by Tommy Linehan. He also did arrangements for Benny Goodman, Charlie Barnet, and Xavier Cugat.
