Jazz and Reggae (Roots Reggae, Rocksteady)
The track-list reads like a short history of Black Music; including Calypso, with Lord Melody's "Happy Holliday"; Great Reggae tunes by the Kingstonians, Jackies Mittoo and Joe Higgs; and Jazz standards by Sonny Rolling, Yusef Lateef and Charles Lloyd. "Soul Serenade", by King Curtis, and the popular classics, "Afrikaan Beat" and "Summer Place", have long been favorites among the "Big People", and the traditional Turkish tune, "Iskhavar", bring some of that Studio One "Eastern" sound to mix. The two originals, "Funk For Louis", dedicated to Richard's son, and "Afro Blues", With a nod in the direction of John Coltrane, were Improvised on the spot in the studio.
