Band, *1990 US, Cleveland
Electronic and Rock
Hot Tin Roof self-released a handful of CDs in the late 90's on Barbed Wire Recordings from their base in Cleveland, Ohio. Multiple songs such as "Fixation" charted on alternative major and college playlists, while remixes of "Strip" were in heavy club rotation. Founded in 1990 by ex-System 56 bass player Tom Lash and Greg Zydyk. Hot Tin Roof was a Cleveland favorite as a live band, sharing the stage with several international acts including My Bloody Valentine, The Swans, The Violent Femmes, House of Love, and dozens of other national acts. Regional radio airplay, coupled with several festival dates, plus performances at CMJ and other music showcases secured the band a high profile. Although the drumming position changed periodically, mainstays of the band include Greg Zydyk (also of PRICK), Mark Minatodani, Blaine Brinton, and Bill Tiell. The music ranges from alternative glam/goth-influenced pop to gloomy ballads to industrial dance sampling. Listen for yourself.
