A.k.a. Howard Eugene Johnson
b. 30 January 1915 d. 28 May 2000 Better known as "Stretch" Johnson, tap dancer with the "Cotton Club Boys" in 1932. Later he became a social activist, earned a high school equivalency diploma and then a degree from Columbia University. He subsequently taught black studies at the Fieldston School and later taught sociology at the State University of New York at New Paltz. Wrote liner notes for Stash Records.
