Hrvoje Horvat is music journalist/publicist, last twenty years writing for many Croatian newspapers and websites, now mainly working for major daily newspaper Večernji list and Croatian edition of Rolling Stone magazine. Also, he was writing for many other newspapers and magazines, and regularly commenting music topics on music programs at HTV (national Croatian TV), and other TV and radio channels. As author he wrote two music books, about ex-Yu music icon Branimir Johnny Štulić (Azra) and “The Rolling Stones – 50 Years”. Frequently he is commissioned to write liner notes for CDs and DVDs of Croatian leading pop artist. During the years he has interviewed many international pop artists, including R.E.M., Bono Vox, Nick Cave, David Byrne, ZZ Top, Bill Wyman, Ocean Colour Scene, Madredeus, Placebo, Ian Anderson, Skunk Anansie, Iron Maiden, Herbie Hancock, Ennio Morricone, etc. For Croatian editions of international biographies “Bob Marley – No Woman No Cry”, “Amy Winehouse – Amy Amy Amy” and “Bruce Springsteen: Two Hearts” he wrote afterwords for Croatian market. As a special adviser he collaborated on Croatian edition of a book “Pretty Vacant” about punk music scene. He organized tribute concerts about known musicians – Branimir Johnny Štulić, Ekatarina velika, Krešo Blažević (Animatori), The Magnificent 7 (with seven ex-Yu new wave icons together on stage for the first time) – and later edited live CD editions of those events. Twice a nominee for national music award Porin, he won Porin in 2015. as art director for the “RockOff” festival and CD - Rockoff - Festival Novog Zvuka 2014.. He is cowriter for 10 parts tv documentary “Our Days” about former Yugoslav and Croatian music scene from 1956. up to the present day.
