German composer, organist and conductor, born August 24 in Soest, 1906; died September 25, 1981 in Paderborn. Göbels life is dominated by his function as leader of the choir in the Hoher Dom Zu Paderborn, which he took over in 1945 from Gustav Schauerte after his death. He was studie theologian and became priest in 1932. Göbels work was to reintroduce choir, organ and bells, after the church was destroyed in the years of war. He succeeded and formed a complete set of church musical ensembles. Göbel left the function in 1964 due to health reasons.
