A.k.a. Dan Geller & Amy Dykes
Formed: 1999 Athens, GA, United States I Am The World Trade Center is a duo who started out in Athens, GA., with co-founder Kindercore Records Geller making most of the music (on his laptop, drum machines, and other instruments) and Dykes providing vocals. Amy Dykes didn't plan to become a pop singer, but after providing vocals to an instrumental track written by boyfriend Dan Geller, IATWTC started towards becoming a band. Ryan Lewis, the other half of Kindercore's founding duo, got Geller and Dykes to go to Austin to play in South By Southwest's 2000 music conference, at which point they had never played live and only had two songs written. After that show, they were a full-fledged band, releasing a few 7" singles, then their first album in mid-2001. After the World Trade Center incident, IATWTC shortened their name to "I Am The..." but returned to their full name after a short while, releasing their second album, The Tight Connection.
