Igor Oistrakh Trio is a family ensemble, organized in the middle of the 1970s by violinist Igor Oistrach with his wife, pianist Natalia Zertsalova and their son, violinist Valery Oistrakh. They had been performing together extensively, playing duets and trio-sonatas by Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Henryk Wieniawski, Pablo de Sarasate and other composers. Around that time, Valery joined Moscow Military District Song And Dance Ensemble led by Vladimir Gordeev for his compulsory military service. He participated in the All-Union Violin Competition in Kazan, winning the first prize for virtuoso performance of Caprice No. 4 by Niccolò Paganini.
