The project called “Il Bacio Della Medusa” (Medusa's Kiss) was born in September 2002, due to the efforts of Diego Petrini (drums), Federico Caprai (bass) and Simone Cecchini (voice, acoustic guitar). An art-music workshop that from the very beginning was based on the extreme attention to lyrics and arrangement. After several changes within the group, (guitarists and keyboard players alternate), the formation becomes stable in 2003 with Eva Morelli (Western Concert Flute, Alto Saxophone, Piccolo) that with the wind instruments will add creativity to the new group and Simone Brozzetti (Guitar) that will bring a definitely Blues Rock sound and a very instinctive and incisive style. 

In April 2004, the BDM after a year and a half of work goes into the recording studio, the project was realized in June 2004 with the creation of self-produced first album, the self-titled “Il bacio della Medusa” (Medusa's Kiss). 

In January 2005 Daniele Rinchi joins the group and with his violin will give a major contribution to the redefinition of the sound of the BDM which will undergo a further evolution with the help of new instruments to which Petrini's mellotron must be added. 

In May 2005 Black Widow Records is entrusted with the distribution of the first disc, while in September of the same year the BDM retires to the studio for the creation of new work: the concept album “Discesa agl'inferi di un giovane amante” ("Sheol descent of a young lover,") which will see the light of day in May 2006. In these months, the group continues to publicize the previous disc and start testing the new songs revisiting their live performance. In September 2006 the group signs a record deal with Black Widow Records for the reissue of the first work and the production of the new disc (LP-CD). 

From 2008 to 2010 the group performs on many stages both in Italy and in Europe that will appreciate the uniqueness of its music, ranging with ease from the grammatical prog to temperamentally heavy sound, to a very broad target, fond of live performances that are characterized by the great stage presence of the members. Meanwhile, the major rock and roll journals review the two disks positively by appreciating the skills of the artists.
In the summer of 2010 the Violinist Daniel Rinchi leaves the band and the BDM closes the group with the actual arrangement. 

At the same time the group begins the writing of a new album "Deus lo vult" in June 2011 and enters the studio for the recordings. 

In July 2011, the BDM leaves Black Widow Records and, aiming to the growth in terms of image, arrives at an experimental advertising project coordinated by Glare Art & Communicationss, which aims at raising the value of the band and at making it more attractive to new record labels. Il BDM torna in studio nel 2010 e incide il brano “Fire”, tributo ad Arthur Brown. Nell’estate 2010 il violinista conclude la sua collaborazione con la band e il BDM chiude l’organico alla formazione attuale; contemporaneamente inizia la stesura del nuovo album Deus Lo Vult e nel giugno 2011 il gruppo entra in studio di registrazione. Nel luglio 2011 il BDM si distacca da BWR e prende parte ad un progetto sperimentale coordinato da Glare Art & Comunication che combina musica ed arte visuale. La band partecipa inoltre alla seconda edizione della più celebre rassegna di musica progressiva PROG EXHIBITION (tenutasi il 21 e 22 ottobre 2011 al Palatendastrisce in Roma) diretta da Franz di Cioccio (PFM), dove il BDM ha l’occasione di esibirsi sul prestigioso palco accanto ad artisti del calibro di Steve Hackett (Genesis), Richard Sinclaire (Caravan, Hatefield and the North), Martin Barre (Jethro Tull), Mel Collins (King Crimson), Goblin, Balletto di Bronzo… ​Il mese di giugno 2012 vede per la band una doppia uscita, e cioè il terzo attesissimo lavoro in studio, il concept album Deus Lo Vult (personalissimo viaggio, intriso di passione e sangue, intrapreso dal “nobil condottiero” Simplicio ai tempi delle Crociate) ed il cd della seconda edizione del Prog Exhibition, contenente la versione live del brano Simplicio presente nell’ultimo disco. Nell'autunno 2015 la band vede ristampata l'intera trilogia in una rinnovata e ricchissima versione dalla AMS Records di Matthias Sheller, in particolare la nuova versione dell'album Deus lo Vult corredata sia dalla copertina dipinta da Federico Caprai (a chiusura della trilogia) che dalla bonus track "Fire" di Arthur Brown. Il 25 ottobre dello stesso anno la band torna sul palco per il Perugia ART ROCK FEST 2015 organizzato dall'associazione Il Circolo delle Menti in collaborazione con il Comune di Perugia ed il Forum Regionale dei Giovani Umbri presso il teatro Bertolt Brecht; il BDM avrà il piacere di suonare a fianco di uno dei principali autori del Rock progressivo italiano, lo storico ex frontman del gruppo Le Orme Aldo Tagliapietra con il quale duetterà in una memorabile versione del brano Amico di Ieri. Il Live in questione verrà poi stampato su CD da Btf/AMS con il semplice titolo "Il Bacio della Medusa Live" nel 2016. Sin dai primi mesi del 2017 il BDM si concentra sulla stesura dei brani per il nuovo album in studio, e in febbraio firma il contratto con AMS Records per l'attesissima stampa in vinile di Deus Lo Vult. Dall'autunno 2017 il BDM inizia a collaborare con il funambolico chitarrista Simone "Il Poca" Matteucci ed entra in studio per le registrazioni del nuovo album SEME* che verrà pubblicato da AMS il 15 Giugno 2018. ​
