Hip-Hop/Rap
A.k.a. Cyril Guerette
Ill Seer, co-founder of Po[ph]etic Productions, grew up in the industrial border city of Sarnia, ON. His first tape was Public Enemy’s “It Takes A Nation Of Millions”, which led him to front a group called The Chevrons. After its dispersal he spent his time studying both classic and modern poetry. Upon his arrival in Cambridge, UK, to complete his Masters, he became an MC for the large Acid-Jazz ensemble, Octopus. Through numerous gigs he eventually co-founded the international UK-based underground crew Delegates of Culture. His lyrical aptitude is attested to by his current PhD studies in Theology. Releases include Delegates of Culture’s ‘Resented’ 12” and Headcleaners 1&2 CD’s, a guest spot on Toolshed’s ‘Murs Bags B-sides’, and future UK releases like Hoodee 12” and the Michaelis Constant 12”. Live performance is his forte, destroying crowds in Canada, the UK, the US and Germany, opening for Roots Manuva, Blak Twang, Taskforce, the Scratch Perverts, DJ Cash Money and Peanuts & Corn.
