Ion Căianu (or Ion/Ioan Căian/Căianu in Romanian, Kájoni János in Hungarian, Johannes Caioni in German) was the first Romanian classical composer, born 8th March 1629 in Căianu Mic, died 25th April 1687 in Lăzarea. Collector of the "Codex Caioni" amongst others. He also was a Franciscan monk and Roman Catholic priest, a folklorist, humanist, constructor and repairer of organs.
