Iron Mike Norton (born October 20, 1973) is an American roots-rock musicianwho is most known as a slide guitar player. Born in Fort Gordon, Georgia, he grew up in Springfield, Missouri and St. Petersburg, Florida. In 1997 Mike met Sonny Landreth and began to learn slide guitar. Through his personal and professional friendship with Landreth, Mike developed his slide guitar style that included many of the techniques pioneered by Sonny. Iron Mike style also includes his use of finger-tappping in combination with slide guitar. Known as "the King of Swamp Stomp", Iron Mike pioneered a style of roots rock that combines elements of traditional hill country "stomp blues" slide guitar, with modern hip-hop, rock and other urban styles of music.
