Composer of Classical
József Balogh (b. 1956) is a Hungarian clarinetist, composer, and musical educator. Balogh is a member of InterClarinet ensemble, president of the Hungarian Clarinet Society, and he was also a soloist in Hungarian State Opera Orchestra (1976-1985) and principal clarinet in Budapest Symphony Orchestra of the Hungarian Radio. He was a student of Béla Kovács at the Franz Liszt College of Music in Budapest. In addition to the clarinet (both the German and French systems), József plays the saxophone and the Hungarian national instrument tarogato. His repertoire covers classical, jazz, contemporary, klezmer and gipsy music. Balogh was also a visiting professor at the universities of Oklahoma, North Texas and Idaho State in the US, and the Hochschule fur Music Nurnberg-Augsburg in Germany.
