voc, 1971-2005 US, Oakland, California
Musician of Electronic, Hip-Hop/Rap and Jazz
A.k.a. Jeffrey Spencer McCormick
J. Spencer, a 90's hip-hop/jazz fusion saxophone player from Oakland, CA, started via Motown Records’ MoJazz. He was the forerunner of the “new age in jazz and rap”. This can be heard in “A Little Bit of Hip-Hop / A Little Bit of Jazz”, as one track on his debut album "Chimera". A young pioneer of the jazz fusion movement will always be remembered. His untimely death in 2005, will keep us wondering what could’ve come from this innovative young artist. R.I.P.
