A.k.a. Jacobus Valkhoff Slome Japie
Accordionist, saxophonist, bandleader and songwriter, born 16 August 1910 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, died 3 July 1992 in Hoek van Holland, Netherlands. Valkhoff worked with several dance and radio orchestras in the 1930s and 1940s. During the 1950s and 1960s he had his own orchestra and scored a number of hits using the alias Slome Japie. In the mid-1960s he joined the Three Jacksons as a part-time member, often replacing the ill-healthed Piet Koopmans. Among Valkhoff's most popular compositions are Diep In Mijn Hart (1943), Tante Leen's Oh Johnny (1955) and football-anthem Hand In Hand Kameraden (1963).
