Singer of World, Country and Rock
Canadian country music singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer and record company executive from British Columbia. Started in the music industry in 1957 hosting a radio program on Chilliwack's CHWK. Produced his first record in 1961, recorded in a strawberry picker's shack in the Fraser Valley. Worked as a session guitarist and headed his own outfits through the next 40+ years. Founder, President and Managing Director of Jalada Music Publishing Company established in 1969. Success that year with co-writer Patti MacDonnell (with whom he would continue a long-running songwriting partnership) brought him to the attention of Al Reusch who employed him often as a producer at Aragon Recording Studios, Vancouver, B.C.. Founded publishing company Jake Doell Music in 1971 at the same time he founded the Prawn label with partner Ken Lundgren (2). After Prawn folded, became chief producer for Stamp Records (5) and then soon after became main house producer for Studio 3 Productions Ltd. and its labels Sweetwater Records (3) and Natural Sounds.. Inducted into the British Columbia Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
