Jake Pope began playing drums in 1999 in Charleston, IL in frictionmachine. In 2000, he joined Swampass(Reptilian/ Safety Pin), when their original drummer decided not to tour. He remained in Swampass from 2000-2004. In 2006, Pope formed The Porn Again Christians with Tommy Rue (Swampass) and Joe Sanner (frictionmachine), until 2012, when Rue and Pope joined with Cliff Collier on bass and changed the name to Malt Liquor. Malt Liquor put out one 7" on Cavetone Records before breaking up in 2013.
