Musician of Jazz
American jazz saxophonist. Appears in: Freddie Roach - (1967) My People (Soul People) (Prestige PR 7521) Gloria Coleman LTD - (1971) Sings and Swings Organ (Mainstream MR 322) Jimmy Ponder - (1988) Jump (Muse 5347). He plays soprano sax in Freddie Roach's album and tenor sax in Jimmy Ponder's and Gloria Coleman LTD's. Introduced by Larry Hollis in the liner notes of Jimmy Ponder's Jump as "the relatively unknown James Anderson, a seasoned tenor who teaches in the Newark public school system", is probably the person referred to by John Patton as "JA" in his album This One's for JA (DIW 919). As he puts, the album is "dedicated to our friend Jimmy Anderson". James Anderson and John Patton appeared in Jimmy Ponder's Jump and both of them lived a few miles from each other in Essex County, NJ.
