A.k.a. Jimmy Currin
Started writing as a teenager for erstwhile Sydney fanzine B-Side. Still a teen, formed Crabstick with the Nichols brothers and made 5 cassettes and 3 LPs in less than 2 years. Moved to Melbourne where an album was released, and almost as quickly remaindered by, Mercury/Polygram. Moved to Dunedin, New Zealand. Collaborations with various Sandoz Lab Technicians members led to the formation of Three Forks with legendary guitarist Donald McPherson. Later formed Ray Off to try out some ideas about communal music improvisation, releasing a stack of albums and moving through more line-ups. He ran a freeform experimental radio show, Sound In The Cracks, in Dunedin for almost 5 years, and also won some prizes as a theatre director, as well as taking roles in plays like Samuel Beckett's Waiting For Godot and Alex Buzo's Norm & Ahmed. He is currently a features writer for Point magazine.
