James briefly played guitar with Loop (3), even though he couldn't play guitar. When he left/was kicked out of the band, he was asked to join The Jesus and Mary Chain and offer he declined. Instead he joined Rough Trade records where he enjoyed many succesful years - including A&Ring The Strokes and The Libertines. In 2006 he formed 1965 Records (a London-based subsidiary of SonyBMG).
