Jan Smit

South African recording engineer. Jan Smit, or “Jane” as he’s often referred to on recordings, is a sound engineer who has been working the fringes of Jozi since the 1980s. His outpost, Takk Studios, draws established and startup acts alike, many of them from Lesotho. Mants’a, Chakela and Mahlanya, for example, constantly seek out his services.
