Jan van Wessel (1969) is a Dutch (jazz)drummer, composer, sounddesigner and pianist. He works and lives in Rotterdam. As a solo-player he works under the name Fess. Jan played/is a (guest)member is several groups as a drummer in a.o.: Sauerkraut with Selwyn Slop and Xavier Van Wersch (2017-), Scuff (2015-), JU! Jazz (2012-2015), Enterprise Big Band (2008-2010), De Rotterdamse Improvisatie Poel, R:IP (2007-2012) and Römertopf I (with Alexander Hulshof and Ab Bol). As a keyboard player and drummer in Lärmschutz (2016/2017), Graeae (2015), Römertopf II (with Stef Brans, Nathan Knip) and Römertopf III (with Stef Brans and Ab Bol).
