Jasmine

voc,
Singer of Dance

Jasmine was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey. As a young girl, she was very much influenced musically by a family of singers. Story has it that as a teenager, Jasmine's mother was approached by Little Jimmy Scott to go out on the road with him but was not allowed to go as her mother thought she was too young to go traveling around with a group of men! Jasmine's two older brothers were also singers and ironically, used to do a Temptations revue with two other young men. They were called the "4 Aces" after an old doo wop group. They performed all over New Jersey and New York and was about to sign a record deal with Zodiac Records but it fell through when one brother decided he needed to take a job with benefits, as he had just gotten married - not knowing how lucrative the offer was going to be - he backed out of the group and their dream died as they both moved on with their lives - so with her family's encouragement, and her own love of music, Jasmine embarked on a singing career, and became a very successful club/lounge singer. She became a recording artist in 1991 with the hit club record "Luv Dancing," which was on the Strictly Rhythm label out of New York under the production of 2003 Grammy Award Winner, Roger Sanchez, aka Roger S. The record was successful in the United States and abroad, and has become a club classic with many area Dee Jays. Next, Jasmine, collaborating with the great Kerri Chandler (then working under the production of BassMental Records) and YaYa MacDougal, completed a few more club releases - entitled Just Can't Be Friends and You Came My Way for a Columbia Records subsidiary label out of Japan (FujiPacific Music, Inc.) along with one ballad. From 1993 to 1996, Jasmine continued her career with two other vocalists, forming the female singing group Xclusive, with her own band entitled Frequency. Though they did not record, the group consistently performed throughout the New Jersey/New York metropolitan area. Jasmine relocated to Atlanta, Georgia in 1996. In 1998, she became a backup singer for local area DJ, Jeffrey Charles of Kiss 104.1, and sang with him for 2 years. While performing with her jazz/R&B combo Free Spirit in and around Georgia, Jasmine became a member of the performance troupe entitled The Black Pearls, under the direction of Dee Robinson out of College Park, Georgia. The troupe recorded a cd entitled “The Voyage” with Jasmines vocals on the second song entitled Truly. While not in the mainstream, the cd is getting great reviews here and abroad. You can listen to Truly on this profile and purchase the entire cd on CDBABY.com. Jasmine then left the Black Pearls along with 2 other members and formed another unit entitled Trinity. They perform in and around Georgia doing R&B to Country! Jasmine is also a member of "The Supreme Divas of Motown" which consists of four women that perform tributes to the girl groups of the 60’s and the true Divas of Motown - The Supremes! Understanding the complexities of harmony, the ability to sing background and lead has afforded her a world of opportunities! Check out this website for her new release entitled "Time" on Exousia Records: http://www.myspace.com/imstillhere513. Keep your eyes and ears open for Jasmine -- she is truly a flower that continues to bloom!
