Tracks 4 to 8 commissioned by Paul Dresher Ensemble and composed in 1995. CD version recorded in March 1998 in Oakland, CA. Tracks 9 to 11 commissioned by The Kronos Quartet and composed in 1992. CD version recorded in 1997. Track 12 commissioned by the Margaret Jenkins Dance Company in 1989, composed in 1989 and revised in 1992. Track 13 is "Kole Kat Krush"'s Paul Dresher Ensemble electro-acoustic band version. CD version recorded live in Japan in 1993.
