Musician of Classical
Born in Montreal, Quebec in 1974, Jean-Pascal studied piano at the Vincent-d’Indy School of Music with Marguerite Bernard, then with Charles Reiner at McGill University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Music degree in 1997. He continued his studies with Edna Golandsky and Dorothy Taubman in New York City. Mr. Hamelin has recorded, in 2010, a recital of works by Chopin to mark the 200th birthday of the composer.The album, entitled “Tableaux Intimes”, was published in co-production by the labels Musicus and Fidelio Music in April 2011. Mr. Hamelin is also a co-founder and artistic director of the recording label PALEXA (1996). After working as an assistant producer at Radio-Canada, he became a regular guest commentator on classical music from 2000 to 2005.
