French singer, songwriter, writer and publisher, born December 8, 1937 in Paris. Jeanne-Marie Sens began writing and recording songs in the early 1970s. Her inspiration is at once melancholic, poetic and protesting, in front of a world increasingly dehumanized. In 1973 and 1974, she gets success and notoriety with her protest songs "En Plein Coeur" (music by Jean-Pierre Pouret) and "L’Enfant du 92e" (composed with Lowery with music by Pierre Rapsat). Jeanne-Marie Sens gives the impression to better live in an imaginary and fantastic world, more beautiful than reality, as tend to confirm the many records she wrote for children. A song from one of her children's album (Chansons Pour De Vrai, volume 2, 1977) gives her her most popular success: "Tant et tant de temps", with music composed by Jean-Pierre Castelain. From that moment, she will collaborate almost exclusively with this composer. Despite their successful and talented association, success is declining and she finally quit the music business in the early/mid-1980s. In the early 1990s, she co-founded the editions Sens & Tonka with Hubert Tonka, writer and collaborator (architect designer) of Jean Nouvel. Jeanne-Marie Sens is also the author of several books (novel, short stories, poems, photography...)
