A.k.a. Ex Nihilo (2)
Japanese goth band from Osaka and Kyoto area formed in 1988 by their original singer Yuichi (aka Yuki Kukami), inspired by the bands like Auto-Mod and Madame Edwarda. Yuichi meets a keyboard player Kaama who was deeply into a wide variety of gothic and new wave music. Jelsomena originally played Christian Death and '80s British 'Batcave' inspired old-school gothic rock, then later started adding darkwave and industrial elements to their sound. Sometime during 1992 the band changed its name to 'Ex-Nihilo' but changed back to Jelsomena in 1993. They were very active within the Kansai area goth scene, occasionally going on Tokyo tour, and often played shows with other goth bands like Jubilee, Judith, La Madame Rochas, Gille' Loves, Neurotic Doll, Rosen Kreuz, Mother Goose, Genet: Rock Of Romance (ex Auto-Mod), Speed-iD, as well as some visual-kei bands such as early LA'rc~en~Ciel, Gilles de Rais, Scare Crow, Zinx, The Harem Q, etc. After having numerous lineup changes since 1990, they broke up in 1994. Yuichi later joined Jubilee as their new singer. Jelsomena played a reunion show in April 2010, reformed and active again since 2015.
