"Gypsy songman - Two words I hoped would describe my life for a book title. It probably would describe my life as a musician also. The songs in this collection were cut around the time of Susan's birthday this year, and also coincided with my son Django's going to college in Liverpool and starting his journey in life. They were all cut within a few days of each other and were done acoustically. They are the songs of my life to this point, from the first song to one written during the recording itself. Music has been the very fabric of my life since I first rode in Granpa's car to square dnaces. I went on the road in the early 60's to see the world. I wrote these songs every step of the way and most of them are here because they were mentioned in Gypsy Songman, my autobiography, which is being published at the same time as this release. It's sort of a musical diary of the journey - a life in song." ~Jerry Jeff Walker
