A.k.a. James Alexander Newberry
Son of photographer James Hervey Newberry who founded the photography department at Columbia College Chicago, Il, in 1968. Not long after that, he gave his son a camera, taught him how to use it, and encouraged his interest in photography. Generally speaking, his father's photo credit is James Newberry and his own is Jim Newberry. Having a keen interest in music, he has worked with quite a few record labels, including Atlantic, Drag City, Luaka Bop, Matador, Sub Pop, Thrill Jockey, and Touch and Go. His work has also been published in numerous books, as well as periodicals including Chicago Reader, Esquire, Interview, London Times, Mojo, New York Times, Rolling Stone, Spin and Village Voice.
