Jazz (Contemporary Jazz)
The Jim DeJulio Quintet was brought together for this historic HD-Audio recording, the last record project that trumpet hall-of-famer Conte Candoli completed. With a stellar group of musicians, including Pete Christlieb, Conte Candoli, Pamela York and Joe La Barbera, this traditional acoustic jazz album presents standards and some of Jim's original tunes. Jim DeJulio was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He spent 18 years performing with the studio orchestra of the "Mike Douglas Show". With over 35 years of experience, he has worked with many studio orchestras and symphonies. In his early 20's he spent most of his time in New York City working with prominent jazz groups such as Chet Baker, Sonny Stitt, Herbie Green and Lee Konitz. His current project include: the Idylewild Jazz Festival, the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Dorothy Donegan Trio, the Paul Smith Trio, the New Big Band Album with Barry Manilow, Co-Hosting Jazz Talk Show "Perspective & Notes" on Cable, the Playboy Jazz Festival, the Concord Jazz Festival, and the West Coast Jazz Festival. DeJulio is active in the studios of Los Angeles and has contributed to the soundtracks of many of blockbuster movies and television shows including: Mission Impossible, Dynasty, McGyver, Beverly Hills Cop III, Naked Gun III, and Frank Sinatra Story. He has also had the pleasure of performing with some of the biggest names in the music business including: Frank Sinatra, Vic Damone, Sammy Davis, Jr., Johnny Mathis, Michael LeGrand, Dionne Warwick, Phil Woods, Al Grey, Nancy Wilson, and Sarah Vaughn. AIX Records' premium DVD-Audio/Video have two sides. The first side in an interactive DVD-Video disc and the other side is a DVD-Audio disc [which requires a DVD-Audio capable machine to play it back]. The sound of this recording brings these incredible instrumentalists into your listening space. The HD-Audio surround mixes immerse you in the musical interplay with full range frequency response and dynamcis. This is a very special tribute to Conte Candoli and the rest of this terrific ensemble. -- Mark Waldrep
