Band, GB
Rock
Scottish blues rock/mod group, formed in late 1962. Reknowned for being Rod Stewart's 1st band. Originally formed as The 5 Dimensions, they changed their name to Jimmy Powell And The 5 Dimensions following some line up changes, and joining up with popular local singer, Jimmy Powell (2). Rod left the band in January 1964, citing his being used mainly as a harmonica player, instead of a vocalist. In April 1966 Jimmy Powell And The 5 Dimensions broke up. The Five Dimensions mutated into The Score, meanwhile Jimmy was looking for another band to be The fictitious Five Dimensions. Jimmy hooked up with local band, Puzzle, and continued to perform as Jimmy Powell and The Dimensions until their demise, in 1972. Classic Line-up: Jimmy Powell (2) (vocals) Rod Stewart (harmonica, vocals) Martin Shaw (guitar) Louis Cennamo (bass) Barry Wilson (drums)
