Born in San Francisco, California. Primarily known as a jazz guitarist, Stewart is adept at several styles. Having played on over 1,200 recordings as well as working as a Musical Director, Producer, Orchestrator and Arranger. During his 30-year career, he has performed or recorded with such varied artists as Michael Jackson, James Brown, Dinah Shore, Carlos Santana, Neil Diamond, Sammy Davis Jr., Barbara Streisand, Ginny Simms, Chita Rivera, Andy Williams, Lannie Kazan, Peggy Lee, Perry Como, Henry Mancini, Rod McKuen, Ray Charles, Tommy Bolan, San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the San Francisco Light Opera. In addition to playing, he has published books on how to play every style from heavy metal to classical to jazz. In 1991, Jimmy was inducted into the Jazz Hall Of Fame.
