Jiswalda was born in Purmerend on 7-8-1900 as Marie Petronella van de Flier. On 5-7-1935, in The Hague, she married Lodewijk Arend Baron van Ittersum, which gave her the title of baroness. She divorced him on 3-3-1947. He married again and died in 1960. She always had been active with music, even before her marriage, giving regular recitals. She even had a steady concertpianist Willy Meeuwisse accompanying her, until he died. Then pianist/composer Han Beuker showed interest in working with her. Meeting Tilly Périn-Bouwmeester took her career more into the direction of cabaret. By that time she lived in Putten and early 1970 she was offered a recording contract with Bovema. On 7-5-1986 she died in her hometown Putten.
