A.k.a. João Batista Do Vale
Brazilian singer. João Batista do Vale was born in quarries, in the state of Maranhão on 11 October 1934. At 13 he went to São Luis - MA, where he participated in a group of Bumba-meu-boi already as a composer of verses. At 15 he went to the south of the country, stopping in several cities and arranging jobs as a miner, bricklayer, truck helper. In 1950 he came to Rio de Janeiro and was employed in a work of construction in Ipanema. As I had some compositions, mostly baiões, he began attending the radios to showcase their work. From then started having his songs recorded by large idols of the time, who immortalized his work, anyway, João do Vale did not have much credit with the record companies, so that at that time he recorded his first album, The poet of the people in 1965 and only when Chico Buarque met with Fagner and producer Fernando Faro in 1981 for the composer to record the second album of his career, with the first team of MPB as a guest.
