João Hasselberg is a jazz double bass/electric bass player born January 1986 in Lisbon, where he currently resides. He studied jazz at the Villas-Boas Jazz School in Hot Clube, where he now teaches Double Bass. Afterwards, he moved to Holland to study at the Amsterdam Conservatory, under teachers Franz van der Hoeven, Arnold Dooyawerd and Ernst Glerum, having graduated in 2010. During this period he was awarded the 3rd Prize in the “Bucharest International Jazz Competition”.
